Archives For Green Arrow

Season 2 of Arrow has gotten of to a slow start but it definitely picked up in this ” Broken Dolls” episode.  Oliver is back in the hood and is ready to be less of killer and more of a hero. This is also the first time viewers have gotten a good luck at the Black Canary and her patented sonic scream. My only complaint about the way she debuted was that her scream came from a device as opposed to her lungs. “Broken Dolls” was a turning point for a few reasons. In addition to the Black Canary debut, it displayed an actual working relationship between Oliver and officer Lance that could develop into a Batman/Jim Gordon dynamic with a twist. They team up to stop a serial that escaped from prison during the earthquake in the glades named Mathis.

This show legitimizes Green Arrow the same way Christopher Nolan did for the Batman movie franchise.  I am nowhere close to being a Green Arrow fan but I am a huge fan of this show.  Oliver always came of as a Batman rip off minus the detective skills and gadgets to me. He was practically in the same tier as Superfriends Aquaman in my book especially with those cheesy boxing gloves arrows. Every episode throws this stigma on its ear and is truly must see television. With every episode the characters evolve not only from season to season but from episode to episode. This episode is gets 4 out 5 overall

Everyone wants the Justice League movie to happen. But one man, who would possibly be playing a role in the movie, would “sweep the floors when they are done”.

Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen on the CW show “Arrow”, would love to be one of the characters depicted in the 2015 Justice League movie.

Amell has some thoughts about how the character could be portrayed from an interview with SciFiNow, “I think that Green Arrow has an opportunity to mature in much the same way Iron Man did in the Marvel universe. He wasn’t necessarily a top level character, but because they made an Iron Man movie and it was successful, it vaulted him up and now he anchors the Avengers,” he adds “It’s always up to what’s popular at the moment. Right now archery seems to be having a mini renaissance, so hopefully he can settle into a firm rotating member of the DC Justice League of America.”

It would be nice to throw Green Arrow into the mix of the Justice League movie. Comment below on what you think should happen.

For those of you who were sad to have Season 1 end, I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that Season 2 has been announced! The bad news: it’s not for another 4 months away. Season 2 of Arrow is set to begin on October 9th at 8pm on the CW.

Arrow was CW’s most watched series during Season 1. Season 2 is expected to bring in more of DC’s superhero line-up, including a potential team-up. Could it be Red Arrow, who is already in the series as Roy Harper, or could it be someone like Green Arrow?

With the addition of some new heroes comes new villains. Producers have announced that there will be 2 new villains, both of which will be very recognizable figures.

For those of you that have not watched Season 1, you now have time to watch all 23 episodes!

Come and see Black Adam beat the piss out of Green Arrow!! And check out Parasite in the background!!

***Before reading, please know that I tried not to give away anything big in the story-line***

Arrow_Costume_Final_SNow I am not a huge fan of the CW. I do not think that there has been anything good on that channel since the XFL (Xtreme Football League) back in 2001. But since I heard all the good things about their new show “Arrow”, which is based on Oliver Queen or Green Arrow in the DC Universe, I decided to give the show a chance. Now I do not know much about the original origin story for Oliver or even the New 52 version of it, but this story was interesting. Oliver is still a wealthy man because of his family’s fortune.

Just a little background on the storyline to get you going if you have not seen the show. Oliver, his girlfriends sister (Sarah), his father (Robert), and father’s friend went on a yacht trip out in the Indian Ocean and the boat ends up getting destroyed, along with

Sarah. Himself, Robert and friend survive on a raft for days with little to no supplies. Oliver’s father has run his business pretty much as a mob boss, turning Starling City into a crime and drug haven and is telling Oliver how he has done so while on his deathbed. Once Robert dies (I won’t spoil the way this happens), Oliver finds a book within his father’s pocket. The book contains nothing but blank pages.

Within the storyline there are a couple familiar characters. We have the obvious one, Green Arrow (who is called “The Hood” by everyone in the city and is only mentioned as Green Arrow once), the Huntress, Merlyn, Yao-Fei of the Great Ten, Deathstroke, and Deadshot. There are a couple other potential characters that could show up because their alter-ego are already within the series like Black Canary, Speedy and Constantine Drakon to name a couple. I personally cannot wait to see what other DC characters show up within the show.

The show has a decent cast but what really draws you in is the storyline. There are many twists and turns within the story that you might have to watch some of the episodes a couple of times as it is with many drama shows. As watch the show you see people who you would not expect to be some of the heroes and villains of the series. There is so much to be said about the show but very difficult to do so without spoiling the storyline. So if you want to catch up with the series, parts of it are on demand and you can always grab the stray episodes off of itunes or on xbox. There are still 8 new episodes this season and they air on the CW on Wednesdays at 8pm. Don’t miss them!
