Adam Orth, Creator Of The “Deal With It” Controversy, Gone From Microsoft

 

Adam Orth, who started a fervor with a series of tweets about an ‘always on’ console has departed from Microsoft. According to Game Informer, Orth resigned, but it is unclear if “whether this was a voluntary or forced resignation.” After the Twitter debacle, Microsoft commented “we apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers.”

It’s probably a safe assumption to infer that he was forced to resign, considering Microsoft had to come out and clean up his mess the next day. More Specs For The Next-Gen Xbox Revealed

 

We are slowly, but surely getting a picture of what Microsoft’s next console is going to be like. It was revealed in Bloomberg today that Microsoft’s next console is going to be using an AMD chipset,and it combines powerful “Jaguar” central processing units with graphics chips, said one of the people, who sought anonymity because the plans aren’t public. The shift to the so-called x86 format ubiquitous in modern personal computers means Microsoft will drop the Power PC technology designed by International Business Machines Corp. (IBM), and game discs made for the current Xbox 360 won’t be compatible. The source also confirmed the May 21 reveal date, which is unsurprising, because the Xbox 360 was also revealed in May 2005 right before E3. This news is interesting because it is now making the new Xbox similar to Playstation 4,which is good news for gamers because ports of games will not be as drastically different as they were this generation. This will free up resources for more game development and possibly less instances of game delays, it has been discussed by many developers that the Playstation 3’s difficult to handle architecture caused many delays for their titles. Next-Gen Xbox Rumored To Have $500 Standard Model, $300 Subscription Based Model.

 

Windows Blogger Paul Thurott has revealed rumored pricing options for Microsoft’s Next Generation Xbox on his Youtube What The Tech show. He claimed the console will launch in November, and will have a subscription-based model for $300, and a buy-outright model for $500. He described the platform overall as “expensive.” Thurott also claimed that there will be another version of the Xbox 360 called “Stingray.” He offered no other details about that particular model. He also shed some light on the controversial ‘always on’ requirement of the next-gen system. He said it is a confirmed feature, and the system notes specifically states that it “must be connected to the internet to use.”

When will they finally announce the system you ask? Thurott said Microsoft is planning an event on May 21, which matches up with an analyst report. Thurott added that Microsoft will share further information about the Xbox 720 during two June events: the Electronic Entertainment Expo and the Build 2013 developer conference. Thurrott further claimed that Microsoft was working on an entertainment-focused Xbox that would not play games. He said this device was called “Yumo,” and speculated that Microsoft decided not to pursue this because it could cause market confusion.

As for who Thurott is, he is a noted Microsoft insider and runs Paul Thurott’s Super Site for Windows. All of this jives with what has been floated out there anonymously by game developers and other leaks. My hope is that the top-end Xbox will be for the hardcore and cater to them instead of trying to be everything to everyone, like the Xbox 360 has become.
